CELEBRATION of ATHLETES/Opening Ceremony: Monday, August 11, 2008
Michigan Senior Olympics will celebrate the athletes with a combined event including an Opening Ceremony, keynote speaker, Hayes Jones, 1964 US Olympic gold medal winner in the high hurdles, dinner and entertainment. You will not want to miss this event to be held at the Older Persons’ Commission, 650 Letica Dr, Rochester.

Silent Auction: Sports Authentic Inc will provide a silent auction of sports memorabilia starting at 4pm the evening of the Celebration of Athletes. The items for auction will range from traditional, classic, sport items to unique pieces and presentations.
EXHIBITION SOCCER MATCH: Wednesday, August 13, 2008 7:00 p.m.
Did you know that soccer is widely considered to be the most popular sport in the world? Whether you are a player or just a fan, come out and show your support for the teams as they put on an exciting match for your enjoyment. Paul Tinnion of Total Soccer is bringing two over 50 teams out for an exciting exhibition match. Soccer will be a ribbon event in 2009! Admission is free!
ROYAL PARK HOTEL DINNER & DANCESPORT COMPETITION: Thursday, August 14th 5:30 pm
Come root for MSO DanceSport Olympians on Thursday, August 14, 2008. Enjoy a delicious dinner served in the Grand Ballroom of the Royal Park Hotel followed by an exciting DanceSport Competition. Doors open at 5:30 pm. with a cash bar. Dinner will follow promptly at 6:00 pm. The Competition begins at 7:00 pm sharp. There will be open dancing throughout the evening. 1 -- MEADOW BROOK HALL: Monday, August 11 10:30am – 3:15pm
Tour Meadow Brook Hall, the fourth largest historic house museum in the United States. The Tudor-revival style mansion was built between 1926 & 1929 as the residence of Matilda Dodge Wilson (widow of auto pioneer John Dodge) and her second husband, Alfred G. Wilson, a lumber broker. Meadow Brook Hall has 110 rooms and measures 88,000 square feet and has large collections of original art and furnishings. Following your tour enjoy a wonderful lunch in Meadow Brook Hall’s Wilson Room featuring roast breast of chicken with mushroom cream sauce and wild rice blend, seasonal vegetables, artisan roll & butter, chocolate mousse & coffee or hot tea. Then enjoy an outdoor Garden Tour with a visit to Knole Cottage.

#2 – LEADER DOG & CHRYSLER MUSEUM: Tuesday, August 12 10:30am – 4:15pm
Leader Dog, founded in 1939, was the second dog guide school founded in the U.S. It has successfully matched and graduated over 13,000 person and dog teams, enhancing the lives of blind and visually impaired individuals from all over the world. You will tour the Leader Dog campus and hear about this wonderful facility. Then, enjoy a fabulous Japanese Hibachi lunch at Kublai Khan Restaurant. You will be entertained by tableside chefs who put on quite a show as they prepare your delicious meal on Hibachi grills. Next, travel to Walter P. Chrysler Museum for a guided tour and time to browse on your own. The museum provides three levels of illuminating experiences for car buffs and history aficionados alike. Vehicles on display include the 1902 Rambler, 1909 Hudson and the famous Chrysler Six, the first vehicle carrying the company name.

#3 – ROCHESTER HISTORICAL TOUR & PROGRESSIVE DINNER : Wed, August 13 4:00pm – 9:00pm
We’ll meet at the Rochester Mills Beer Company where we will hear about the historical relevance of this building and receive a tour of the brewery. Enjoy a beer sampling and appetizers. Then embark on a walking tour of downtown Rochester and listen as a guide from the Rochester Hills Museum explains the history of the town, it’s buildings and prominent residents. Dinner will be at Rochester Chop House with salad, bread basket, coffee or tea and choice of entrée: Atlantic Salmon Chicken Oscar or 12oz Delmonico Steak. We will continue our historical tour, making a stop at The Victorian Rose for dessert and tea. Our last stop will be Red Knapp Dairy Bar before walking back to Rochester Mills Beer Company.

#4 – TIGERS VS TORONTO: Thursday, August 14 10:00am – 5:00pm
Come root for the home team as the Tigers take on the Blue Jays in an afternoon game at Comerica Park. Enjoy an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet of hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, chips, pop & water in the picnic area before the game. Enjoy the game from your upper-level seat in Section 216.

#5—ITALIAN DINNER & BOCCE BALL: Friday, August 15 4:30pm —8:30pm
Prepare your taste buds for an incredible Italian dinner at Palazzo diBocce complete with appetizer, two salads, two pastas, a meat dish and dessert. A wine will be served with each course. After dinner, enjoy 90 minutes of bocce play. An instructor will be available during this time.
